Grade 6 Co-Ed Volleyball

A List of Things to Know (and/or ask about) With Respect to This Year’s Grade Six Co-Ed Volleyball Team:

• We managed to hold one practice where the entire team was in attendance
• We play better than we practice
• “Go Big!” proved to be a much more popular team cheer than either “Kelly Clarkson!” or “It’s over!” or “Go Brown!”
• Sam's amazing serves dominated our first match
• Owen made a crazy soccer-style shot that landed in-bounds for a winner
• Kienna made a fantastic net-block versus one of the boys from Westwood
• James & Asiah are willing to dive for almost any shot

Our nail-biting Quarter Final victory over Bowmore marked the highlight of an abbreviated season.Thanks to Asiah, Freddie, Jessica, Kienna, Megan, Elliot, James, Owen, and Sam for a great tournament. Though we lost in the Semi-Finals to the eventual champions, Westwood, we certainly gave them a run for their money and we’re proud of everyone’s effort.  Thanks also to the parents who helped shuttle us back and forth across the city.

Badminton Future Stars Team
After weeks of practice the Badminton Team played against Whitney PS on March 31st @ Brown. The team was victorious by a score of 3-2. Well done Brown! The Future Stars team should be very proud of their efforts.

Badminton Tournament Team
The Brown School Badminton Team will play in a one-day tournament on April 9th @ Queen Vic PS. More info such as the schedule will be posted on the school website under Athletics.

Grade 4/5 Girls Soccer Team
A sign-up meeting will be called shortly and the try-out schedule will be posted on the Gym bulletin board and the school website under Athletics.

Grade 6 Boys Soccer Team
The team has begun optional training sessions twice a week during the lunch hour with a team jog to Winston Churchill Park. The 1st official team try-out will take place on Monday April 7th @ 11:40a.m. More info can be found on the school website under Athletics.

Track and Field (Grade 2-6)
The Track and Field team will compete on May 21st @ Birchmount. Between now and May 13th we will be holding some try-outs during Phys-Ed class and some during the week @ 7:30 a.m. (when the weather decides to get better). More info about which events your child is eligible for will be posted on the school website shortly.

AQUATIC NEWS
Junior Swim Team

On April 8, our Junior Swim Team competed at the TDESSA Semi-Final/Qualifying meet held at Harbord CI. The team members who placed in the top six will qualify to compete in the morning at the TDESSA Swim Finals held at Rosedale Heights on Thursday April 17th, 2014.

Our Swim members have attended practice three days a week, working hard improving their skills, strengths,endurance and speed. We are proud to be Coaches of such a devoted group of boys and girls!
