Sports Corner - May 2014

BADMINTON
The Badminton Team has concluded their season by adding another Championship banner to the Gym wall. The team defeated Queen Victoria P.S. in the South Conference Finals by a score of 3-2. At the City Finals tournament, the team faced a very strong team from Bedford Park in the City Semi-Finals and lost by a score of 3-2. The team should be very proud of their efforts this season and we wish them the best of luck in their future Badminton careers!

GRADE 4/5 GIRLS SOCCER
The Girls were part of a four-team tournament that took place on May 12th @ Lawrence Hts MS. We had great weather and some great team spirit to go with it. The Girls displayed some amazing soccer skills and worked really well as a team. We won our first game by a score of 5-0 and our second game by a score of 6-0. Ten out of our 11 goals were scored by the same girl...I'll keep her name a secret as we don't want the Canadian Olympic Women's Soccer team to come calling too soon. Our final game of the day was our toughest test and although we lost, the team showed off their true Brown School spirit and never gave up right up to the last whistle. The team did advance to the South Conference Semi-Finals which will take place on June 9th. More info will be emailed directly to the parents.

AQUATIC NEWS
A big congratulations to our Junior Swim team!
We enjoyed a successful and busy season. Our Junior members competed in three inner swim meets with other Junior TDSB teams: Hillcrest, Frankland, Keele and Allenby.

To finish our season we competed in the TDESSA city-wide qualifiers semi-finals swim meet which was held at Harbour CI.

The success of the Semi-finals results had 23 of our 50 team members qualified to move on to compete in the TDESSA city wide finals which was held at Rosedale Heights. Our Junior members concluded with a overall successful morning leaving our finalist with several earned placement ribbons and metals with many first, second and thirds!

We are very proud of our Grade 6 Boys relay team who placed second in the city TDESSA finals earning a banner. Their banner presently hangs in the honour of their achievements in our gymnasium! Fantastic boys!

As coaches, we want to share with all our Junior swim team members how proud we feel of each of you. We look forward to another wonderful successful season! In closing, we would like to mention a big "Thank you" to David Beutel for stepping in with offering his help timing at the TDESSA swim finals. Fantastic work Team!
