CROSS COUNTRY NEWS

First cross country meet of the season: Friday, October 2nd

Please make arrangements to attend the meet with your child or for another parent to do so if your child is in grades 1, 2 and 3.  We realize that this may not be very much notice for parents to make the necessary arrangements however, the date was recently changed.

On the day of the meet, grades 1, 2 and 3 students must be transported by a parent or guardian.  Primary students will also need to be supervised by their parents at the park.  Parents may return their child to school when he or she has finished the race.  Junior students will return to school with the coaches by school bus.  As indicated below, the first meet takes place at Ashbridges Bay (Lakeshore & Coxwell).  The meets begin at 10 am with the Grade 1 Girls followed by the Grade 1 Boys.  Races generally go every 15 minutes, however TREAT THIS LIKE A TRIP TO THE AIRPORT - and get there early. You will need time to find parking, find the Brown School Tent, get your child's runner number, take your child to the washroom etc...

T-SHIRTS
Before taking your child to the meet, you must stop by the school to pick up a t-shirt at 8:00am. If you prefer, you will be able to pick up the t-shirt the day before the meet, Thursday, October 1st after school in the hallway that leads to the gym. Parents are also asked to wash the t-shirt and return it to school with their child.

If your child is in grade 3 to 6 and qualifies at the first meet , he or she will return to compete at the South Conference Finals on Friday, October 16th and possibly go on to the City Finals on October 22nd.  Typically, four to eight students from Brown make it all the way to the City Finals.  **Students in grades 1 and 2 will only be competing at the first meet.**
