Sept. 21, 2015: Crossing Guard and Parking on Poplar Plains

Parents and Guardians,

Families who use the rear entrance to the school off Poplar Plains please be aware that our former crossing guard Julie has retired. Toronto Police Services is working to find a full-time replacement but for the moment we will only have a crossing guard present in the afternoon. We urge all parents and children crossing Poplar Plains to use extra caution until a full-time crossing guard assigned.

In addition, we ask that parents refrain from pulling up to or parking in the crosswalk area. This is extremely unsafe for anyone attempting to use the crosswalk and blocks the school bus zone located between the parking lot entrances.

We'd also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the following:

  • In the mornings, parking is available on Balmoral (between Avenue and Poplar Plains, and between Warren and Poplar Plains). There are only three legal parking spots on Poplar Plains, located just south of the corner on Lynwood. There is no parking before 10 a.m. on Lynwood.
  • The underground parking lot is for staff only. Please refrain from parking there or using the parking lot to drop off your children.
  • The Kiss & Ride program began this week. Kiss & Ride runs from 8:25 to 8:40am and is available for Grade 1-6 children who are comfortable walking themselves into the school yard. If you would like more information about the Kiss & Ride program or would like to volunteer, please contact Mary Ann Stewart (maryann@floristware.com).
