WORLD CHANGERS
Many thanks to all who contributed to World Changers' We Scare Hunger campaign in October with donations of non-perishable items. We raised 1177 pounds of food for the Daily Bread Food Bank. Nice work everyone! The WC team have been busy with a couple of different initiatives in November and December. For the past couple of weeks we have been selling beautiful blinking red noses for the Toronto Foundation for Student Success - a registered TDSB charity that advocates for students and provides programming to deal with the hunger, poverty and violence some of them encounter (final tally to come but noses have been selling fast!) World Changers have also been working hard gathering items in each classroom for our Holiday Hampers. Parent Council generously donated an additional $2000 to provide extra grocery gift cards for each hamper. The TDSB Social Work team arrived on Friday to pick up the loot for the 26 families we supported and were once again overwhelmed by the generosity of the Brown P.S. community. Many, many thanks to our parent volunteers who helped sort through all of the goodies and to everyone for your thoughtfulness - you have made a big difference in the lives of these families this holiday season. And for all you holiday shoppers out there, if you're looking for something a bit different to give consider the gift of charity. It's a win-win whether you choose to support World Changers' organizations, such as We, Plan Canada, Daily Bread, Syrian refugees or Toronto Foundation for Student Success, or a cause that has special meaning to you or the recipient. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact co-chairs Allison Fortier (allison.fortier@rogers.com) and Laura Finch (laura.finch@me.com). All the best for the Holidays! |
