An evening with Dr. Alex Russell: Promoting Resilience in Children
The Brown School Parent Council is thrilled to announce that Dr. Alex Russell will be speaking on Monday, April 8th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Brown School.

Alex is a well-known speaker in the schools in the Toronto Area. He will provide an engaging, informative and interactive presentation that will surely be thought- and discussion-provoking.

Topics include:
  • How to play a positive role in your child’s life so they experience you primarily as a supportive,
interested by-stander, ready to step in and help whenever necessary
  • Strategies for communicating with teachers and managing homework so that children develop
their own relationship with school and achievement
  • How to build a “village” of adults in children’s lives so that you are not parenting in isolation and children learn to respect other external authorities
Make sure to mark your calendar. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!

Brown Sports Club
Morning sports are underway. On Mondays and Wednesdays, students are invited to hone their basketball skills. Tuesdays and Thursdays -- it's time to bump, set and develop your volleyball skills. These sessions will continue after the March break and wrap up the week of April 15th.

The sports club is also looking to offer spring programs. If any parents are interested in assisting with these, or if you want more information, please contact Yvonne Harding at yvonne@maclean-howard.org.
