LIBRARY NEWS

Thank you all for your support towards the library this year by buying, donating and filing books. Our Scholastic Book Fair was a success because of our parent volunteers and our book buyers, and we sold for over $5,500 worth of books.

Please dive into a book this summer!

And don't forget the great Summer Reading Club with the Toronto Public Library. In English: www.tdsummerreadingclub.ca and en français www.clubdelecturetd.ca

Have a wonderful summer 2015!

MUSIC NEWS

The Brown P.S. music program is slowly winding down, and we've had a successful year. Next year we will be having a whole new set of adventures, beginning with a set of Gamelan instruments in September. These hand-crafted instruments from Indonesia will give us a great chance to discover the traditional Gamelan music of Java.

Ms. Turner will be sending home all recorders this summer, and students are asked to store them in a safe place until September.

Students starting Grade 4 in the fall are invited to join the Junior Choir for our 2015-16 season. No need to speak to Ms. Turner, just come to our first rehearsal.

Students entering Grade 5 will be invited to join the Band with Mr. Bob Mills. Stay tuned for more information in September and get ready to learn your favourite band instrument.

String players will continue instruction again in the fall with Ms. Bozena Schubers.

Have a safe, happy and musical summer and we'll see you again in September for another year of amazing music-making!

WORLD CHANGERS UPDATE

World Changers has just heard from Free the Children that we won $500 towards the Adopt A Village project of our choice! With the additional $500, our group supported Alternative Income projects in India with a total of over $5,200!

World Changers also supported one of our own Brown school students, Anwar Boutahar, with a freezie fundraiser. We were able to raise over $800 to contribute to the JDRF (which raises awareness and supports research for juvenile diabetes) for which Anwar is an ambassador.

Thank you to the Brown community for all your support this year. Thank you also to the teachers without whom World Changers would not happen - Michele Breslin, Anne-Marie Sulymko, Ariana Silecky and Aundrea Bulfon.
