GRADE 6 YEARBOOK PHOTOS

A huge thanks to all the Grade 6 parents who sent in their child's baby photo and other photos for the yearbook. We are thrilled to have such an overwhelming number to choose from.

It is our intention that every graduating child is represented in the yearbook. If you have not yet submitted a baby photo, there may still be an opportunity. Please email browngradphotos2016@gmail.com.

2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR

Each year the school is given a set number of students that the TDSB projects will be in our school come September of the following year. Based on those projections, as well as our staffing allocation - the staff, along with the parent council representatives work out an organizational plan for our classrooms for next year. Our model for next year has been approved, as it has met with Board and Ministry criteria - and we are sharing it with you. Please note that things may change, as late as the end of September 2016. This is tentative only.

AVENUE ROAD DROP-OFF

There is NO safe drop-off zone on Avenue Road.

1. Stopping on Avenue Road to let a child out of the car is extremely unsafe.

2. The North Driveway of the school is NOT ACCESSIBLE to parents. This area needs to be reserved for AUTHORIZED users only.

Please think twice before using either of these areas to drop off your children. WE HAVE CONTACTED POLICE SERVICES TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND THEY WILL BE MONITORING THE DRIVEWAY AND AVENUE ROAD.

Driving around the block is a pain, but is it worth a life?

MUSIC PROGRAM

Spring has sprung, and it's time again for our spring concert.
Our dress rehearsal is May 4th starting at 12:30pm
The Concert for the community is May 5th at 9:00 am. Both are happening in the gym.
This concert features only for junior students (Grades 4-6).  On the programme are all of the junior classrooms with two songs each, strings, band, Ukulele Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble and the Junior Choir are also performing.

In other music news, the C.A.B. Brown Singers and Junior Choir performed last week in a very special concert with the Toronto chamber choir, Healey Willan Singers at St. Martin-in-the-Field.  It was an incredible concert with the students singing over eight pieces of choral repertoire.  Ms. Merenda, Ms. Mankiewicz and Ms. Turner would like to congratulate all of our amazing choristers, along with Shonagh McVean, our cellist, and Channing Huang, our wonderful accompanist.

FUN TO BE HAD!

We are launching our latest fund raising campaign to support Food Security in Haiti through Free the Children.

On Monday, April 25th and Tuesday, April 26th, students from K to Grade 6 will cast their vote for the teacher they would like to see dressed up in a "silly" character costume to go with our theme of the month.  This year, it is our male teachers - and caretaker- who have bravely volunteered for our campaign (next year it will be female teachers!). Students will be able to vote at 11:45 in front of the office on Monday and Tuesday and it is 1$/vote (they can buy as many votes as they want). Kindergarten kiddies can come and vote at 11:20.

Which staff member will be walking the catwalk on Wednesday?

THEME OF THE MONTH

Every month we have a theme at Brown! This month we are having fun with our favourite character from a book or movie. On Wednesday we will be having an assembly where everyone is encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite character! We cannot wait to see the creativity in action!

BROWN CLOTHING POP UP SHOP - WE'RE BACK!

Get your Panther pride on with a new selection of Brown branded items, including new colours and styles for spring.  We've got hoodies, sweatpants, baseball T's, as well as some brand new items including foldable sunglasses and wristbands!  We will be setting up shop in the lower playground on Thursday, April 28th from 2:45pm - 3:45pm, then again on Thursday, May 12th from 2:45-3:45pm.  And we'll also be on site during Garden Fete!
