SUMMER GARDENERS NEEDED!

The students have been busy over the last two months working and learning in our new school garden. Summer vacation is sneaking up on us quickly.  We need families to volunteer to babysit one (or two or three) milk crates over the summer.

You would be responsible for picking up the milk crate (along with an empty one under it for air circulation) either Friday, June 24 or Monday, June 27 from our primary school playground, taking care of it over the summer, and returning it back to our playground during the first week of school.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to learn first-hand how we grow our food and to reap the benefits of their hard work (you can eat your harvest over the summer).

If you are interested in babysitting our garden over the summer please ask your child to speak to Ms. Bacon in Room 22, or for our younger ones, let your child's teacher know and they can relay the message. Further details will be supplied to those interested families.

Thank you so much Brown for your tremendous support over the year with all of our ECO endeavours.

POOL UPDATE

We are pleased to share that the TDSB's 2016-17 final budget includes funding to continue operating three school pools, including Brown's, during day school hours for the coming school year. Earlier this year, the City of Toronto had decided to stop funding these three pools.

Over the coming months, the TDSB will also be in discussions with the City about city-run pools in school buildings. The City currently pays to operate 33 school pools in order to offer after school and weekend swim programs at these locations.  The current agreement for pool operations comes due in July 2017. We will share information with you about the outcome of this process between the city and TDSB and any impact this may have for our pool.

DOGS

Please remember that dogs are not allowed on school property, no matter how cute or friendly. Dogs cannot be in our play areas nor in the school.
AVENUE ROAD DROP-OFF

There is NO safe drop-off zone on Avenue Road.

1. Stopping on Avenue Road to let a child out of the car is extremely unsafe.

2. The North Driveway of the school is NOT ACCESSIBLE to parents. This area needs to be reserved for AUTHORIZED users only.

Please think twice before using either of these areas to drop off your children. WE HAVE CONTACTED POLICE SERVICES TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND THEY WILL BE MONITORING THE DRIVEWAY AND AVENUE ROAD.

Driving around the block is a pain, but is it worth a life?
