PRINCIPAL AND VICE PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY

Yesterday Dhillon, Rory, Kate and Lily took over as the school administrators. They had lunch, and coffee, I mean water and were very busy in the office. They scanned attendance, kicked off the Teacher/Student Soccer Game, counted money and planned some possible themes for next year. All in all - it was a blast for them and amazing for us! Nothing like putting your feet up on a Thursday afternoon.

WORLD CHANGERS

Staff and students at Brown P.S. were thrilled to be among the 25 TDSB schools chosen to participate in this year's TDSB Jewish Heritage Month initiative - the Tikkun Olam School Social Justice Fair.  Students from each school had the opportunity to share and see each other's projects showcasing the many ways they work to make our world a better place. Three of our Grade 5 World Changers, under the guidance of Mme Breslin, represented Brown beautifully!  Bravo!, World Changers! Keep up the great efforts!

SOCCER

The soccer game was very rainy and good. At one point one of the teachers dressed up as a pickle. Also Mr. D was lying down by the net, as the goalie. A girl got a goal when he was lying down. The teachers still won! We really learned that rain can't stop us!

ECO COMMITTEE UPDATE

BIG ECO NEWS! Brown has been awarded Silver certification with TDSB Eco Schools! This year our teachers and students have put in a lot of time and energy into making our school a more eco-friendly place to be.

Congratulations to everyone that was involved in making this happen, especially our two Eco Committee teachers, Ms. Hazan and Ms. Bacon! Parent Council looks forward to supporting Brown next year to reach for Gold Eco Status! Learn more about EcoSchools here http://www.ecoschools.ca. If you're interested in joining the Parent Eco Committee please contact Jen Lockwood at jealockwood@gmail.com we have lots of exciting initiatives to support our school and our kids next year.

Trash Tuesday - this Tuesday, May 31st after the 1st dismissal bell at 3:00pm we'll meet in the primary yard to pick up garbage and recycling. We can use the help and support of all parents and caregivers. Please encourage your child to help us clean up our environment! Grab a garbage bag and a few keen Panthers and make a difference to our community!

DOGS

Please remember that dogs are not allowed on school property, no matter how cute or friendly. Dogs cannot be in our play areas nor in the school.

AVENUE ROAD DROP-OFF

There is NO safe drop-off zone on Avenue Road.

1. Stopping on Avenue Road to let a child out of the car is extremely unsafe.

2. The North Driveway of the school is NOT ACCESSIBLE to parents. This area needs to be reserved for AUTHORIZED users only.

Please think twice before using either of these areas to drop off your children. WE HAVE CONTACTED POLICE SERVICES TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND THEY WILL BE MONITORING THE DRIVEWAY AND AVENUE ROAD.

Driving around the block is a pain, but is it worth a life?
