WELCOME BACK!

We hope the summer has been wonderful for all of our families! How quickly time has
flown!

At Brown, we are so excited to see all of you on Tuesday. The staff has worked tirelessly in preparation for the school year and everyone is looking forward to start-up!

Please remember all classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6 begin at 8:40am. The day ends for all students, from Kindergarten to Grade 6 at 3:10pm.

See you Tuesday!
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PROCEDURES

Kindergarten families (rain or shine) come into the first floor hallway and look for the class lists, posted outside of the classrooms. English Kindergarten classrooms are Rooms 9, 11, 12, and 14. French Kindergarten classrooms are Rooms 13 and 15.

Once you find the classroom, please drop your child off with the teacher at 8:40am. You are welcome to come in after 8:25am to find your child's class.

Grades 1-6 families (if it is sunny) will have a different plan.
  • Grades 1 and 2 students will congregate in the Primary Yard. Please help your child look for their classroom teacher. The teachers will be in the Yard carrying signs to identify themselves, as well as their class lists. Specialty teachers will also be on hand to help and will have full school lists.
  • Grades 3-6 students will congregate on the turf. Please look for the class lists which will be posted on the fence and for the classroom teachers, who will be holding signs identifying themselves.
  • Please note: The Grade 1, 1/2, and 2/3 classes will meet in the Primary Yard. If you do not find your name on a list on the turf and your child is in Grade 3, please come and check the Primary Yard.
Grades 1-6 families (if it is raining).
  • All families of students in Grades 1-6 will proceed to the Gym.
  • Students in Grades 1-4 will remain in the Gym, after finding their class and teacher. The teacher will escort them to their classroom.
  • Students in Grades 5 and 6 will come to the Gym to find their class list and then, on their own, will proceed upstairs to find their teacher in their assigned classroom.
NOTE: We ask that our Grade 1-6 students blow you a kiss and give you a hug outside of the school (or in the Gym if it is raining). Students will enter the school with their classroom teacher.

BIRTHDAYS

Birthdays are an exciting time for children and adults alike! We ask that you note that Birthday Celebrations will now be teacher-lead. Treats are no longer permitted to be brought into the classroom for Birthday Celebrations. Each classroom teacher will celebrate birthdays in their way, within the class. We are aiming to be safe and inclusive, therefore being mindful of allergies and food intolerances. Thank you for your support.

PARKING, DROP OFF, AND PICK UP

Please remember:
  • For safety reasons, the Avenue Road Driveway is only to be used by TDSB Facilities staff, and Brown Administration.
  • Please remember that there is no drop-off zone on Avenue Road.
  • Kiss 'n' Ride program begins September 12th. Information on our Kiss 'n' Ride program for students in Grades 1-6 can be found here. It is located on Poplar Plains. If you wish to volunteer for Kiss 'n' Ride please contact Connie Wansbrough.
  • We have created a map depicting areas around the school that are available for parking during drop-off times.
  • There is 10 minute parking on Lynwood.
  • Please note that the parking lot off Poplar Plains is for Brown School Staff only.
USE OF THE YARD

There is supervision in the school yard from 8:25am-8:40am and from 3:10pm-3:25pm each school day. We ask that you honour these times, for the safety of your child.

At 3:25pm each day, the childcare has exclusive use of the yard, therefore students must go directly home or to a previously organized activity.

We thank you for your support.
