GREAT TEACHER AWARD
Our very own Mme Diane Legge is a finalist for the Canadian Family Great Teacher Award. Mme Legge (Grade 2 French Immersion) was put forward by eight Brown School parents and has been chosen by a panel of education specialists as one of 12 Canadian Great Teacher finalists.

If she is voted a winner, Mme Legge will receive $2,500 to donate to Brown School for programs and supplies. The winners will be notified on July 2, 2013 and officially announced on August 2, 2013 online at www.canadianfamily.ca and in Canadian Family magazine’s September issue. WORLD CHANGERS UPDATE
April was an eventful month for World Changers with our We Are Silent campaign raising awareness about the exploitation of children's rights in some developing nations and raising funds to improve these children's access to housing, health care, clean water, and food supply in India. World Changers held an assembly for the school promoting this campaign, ran a bake sale to further engage students, encouraged school wide participation in a Day of Silence on April 18, and celebrated with a dance-a-thon for one and all on April 19.
Many thanks to Callum Maclachlan for setting up amazing lighting for this event and to Mr. Ellis for coordinating the music. Congratulations to Brown School for raising almost $5,000 for this campaign!
In May we will be highlighting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF). A Brown School student, Anwar Boutahar, is working towards becoming an ambassador for this organization and will be speaking with each class in the school to provide insight into what it is like to live with juvenile diabetes. On May 23, we will hold another bake sale in support of the JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes which Anwar and others will be participating in on June 9.
You can also look for us at Garden Fete where the World Changers will have a booth showcasing many of the activities we have participated in to date! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact co-chairs Allison Fortier <allisonfortier@rogers.com> or Laura Finch <laura.finch@me.com>.
