The magazine drive has started off with great buzz, and excellent enthusiasm. Thanks to our secret guest Marvin the Monkey! With your help, we can make the magazine drive one of the year's top fundraisers. All you need to do is encourage your family and friends to order magazine subscriptions. Share the catalogue that came home with your kids last week, or go online to www.qsp.ca and GET ORDERING. Our School Number is 9143. All orders due by October 16!
Remember to register your kids at www.qsp.ca so that they receive credit for their orders. Save paper and money and please encourage online orders.

WORLD CHANGERS UPDATE
For those new to the Brown community, World Changers is Brown School's outreach program and this year we have approximately 30 students from Grades 3-6 who meet bi-monthly to discuss different issues related to social justice both globally and locally. Many of the campaigns we organize support Free The Children but we also support independent initiatives.
On Sept 20, thirteen World Changers along with Michele Breslin and Arianna Silecky from Brown P.S. attended We Day. Brown represented some of the youngest participants in this one-day inspirational celebration at the Air Canada Centre, designed to empower, educate and motivate youth to think about how they can contribute to the world around them.
Our attendees returned from the event and were asked to present to the other World Changers about some of the highlights of their experience: Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield encouraging them to work hard to pursue their dreams, visually impaired Molly Burke speaking out against bullying, and the indomitable Spencer West, a boy who lost both his legs at age five and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro using his wheelchair and his hands to get there, telling them not to fear life's challenges but to face them.
October is We Scare Hunger month and the World Changers will be running a food drive from Oct 21 - Nov 1 to support the Food Bank. Our goal is to break our record from last year and collect more than 2000 pounds of food. Let's go Brown!
Here is a look at some of the other campaigns World Changers will be working on in the coming year:
December - Holiday Hampers
January - Warm Clothing Drive
February - We Are Love (Valentine's Day button grams raising funds and awareness for sustainable development in Free The Children's Adopt a Village communities)
March - We Stand Together (education about aboriginal issues in Canada)
April - We Are Silent (raising awareness for children's rights internationally and locally)
May - We Create Change (collecting loose change to help build schools in developing countries)
World Changers are always keen to find new ways to animate our campaigns - if you have expertise related to any of these issues or others that you would be willing to share with our group, or if you'd like to find out more about World Changers in general, please feel free to contact the co-chairs Allison Fortier <allisonfortier@rogers.com> and Laura Finch <laura.finch@me.com>.
