LIBRARY NEWS: FOREST OF READING & BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The library of Brown School is starting the Forest of Reading® for French and English classes in the next few weeks. The Forest of Reading® is Canada's largest recreational reading program! This initiative of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) offers eight reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest® helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators.  All Ontarians/Canadians are invited to participate via their local public library, school library, or individually.

The grade 4, 5 and 6 students will have the chance to team up and read at least five titles of the novels to participate in our annual Battle of the Books (BOB). The students will play a questionnaire game and compete against other teams. If you would like to volunteer for this special event we will need parents to read the novels and make questions for the students.

The library needs volunteers to help sort books on a regular basis. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to please contact Mme Gagnon in the library.

MUSIC NEWS
All grade 4, 5 and 6 students are currently working on their repertoire for a recorder test. Extra help is available every Day 1-4 during last recess in the music room. Recorder tests will begin during class on the third week of January. Happy practising!

WORLD CHANGERS UPDATE
Many thanks to everyone in the Brown Community for their generosity with the Holiday Hamper initiative. The TDSB Social Workers who collected the hampers expressed their sincere appreciation for all the contributions.

In addition we were able to raise $1241.35 towards the Red Nose Campaign. The Red Nose Campaign is in support of the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS). All proceeds go to the programs supported by the TFSS that provide TDSB students with food, warm clothing and other necessities. Over 400 blinking Red Noses were sold! Many thanks to all who contributed.

Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact the parent co-chairs Allison Fortier <allisonfortier@rogers.com> and Laura Finch <laura.finch@me.com>.
